The House is built on a hillside of what was once known as Europe's southernmost fjord. Yet as it turned out later, Boka Kotorska – how the locals call it, is an even more unique landscape type named ria — a river valley drowned by the sea. With an average annual temperature of + 18 degrees C (64 F), winter temperatures never fall below 0 C (32 F).
The House is a compound of 5 seismically designed buildings with a monolithic structure and brick filling. The outer bearing walls are 300 mm thick and coated in travertine. Beneath it lies a 4-layer “warm ceramics” hydro and thermal insulation, which also keeps the outside noise away.
Apartments in The House are sold with a fine finishing, which can be adjusted by your request. Precious timber and ceramic granite by Porcelanosa is used for the floors, with Villeroy & Boch and Noken supplying the plumbing fixtures. Rather than divide the space into many small rooms like it is usually done in Montenegro, all apartments are designed to have spacious rooms.
